Cashback Calculator
| This tool calculates savings for wind turbines, hydroelectricity and micro combined heat and power systems. If you’re thinking of installing solar electricity panels, click on the image on the right to go to our Solar Energy Calculator. Start by entering the details of your technology then use the investment section to see how the cash can repay a loan for installation costs, and even potentially make you a profit. To make the most of your investment, don't forget to make sure your home is as energy efficient as possible. |
The tool does not include the following:
• Fuel price increases over time
• Inflation (though FITs are index linked)
• Net present value or discounting
Electricity price for import is taken as 14.39p/kWh. Tariffs are valid for systems installed between 15th July 2009 and 31st March 2013, and are expressed at 2012/13 rates regarding index linking.
Some tariffs are currently under consultation and may change for systems installed from October 2012.
Tax is not included in the calculations. FIT income is not taxable for domestic installations.
For assumptions around the wind speed data base please see here http://www.energysavingtrust.org.uk/windspeedtool.
Annual output figures for different turbine sizes are based on the performance of typical machines. Actual performance of particular products will vary.
Fuel bill savings have been limited to £500 per year to prevent excessive savings projections for large systems.
Current tariff levels for systems installed between 1st April 2012 and 31st March 2013 of most significance to householders:
| Wind up to 1.5 kW | 35.8 p/kWh |
| Wind 1.5 to 15 kW | 28.0 p/kWh |
| Hydro up to 15 kW | 21.9 p/kWh |
| Micro CHP up to 2 kWe | 11.0 p/kWh |
| Export tariff (all technologies) | 3.2 p/kWh |
