Working together to help students and staff
Claire Charles, Environmental Co-ordinator for Sunderland University, facilitated a meeting between the Energy Saving Trust advice centre, the Energy Manager and the Head of Student Accommodation of the University.
Laura Middlemass (Business Project Manager for the Energy Saving Trust advice centre) was able to provide support for Claire to raise the profile of sustainable energy amongst students and staff.
Specifically, we provided stands and display materials for student-focussed events. Following this, we organised a set of energy awareness presentations for staff. These were one hour presentations covering the full range of domestic energy advice, which staff were encouraged to attend during work time.
These were promoted using an internal e mail bulletin which also included links to the online Home Energy Check. In this way, staff could complete their own personalised home energy report and could come to see the Energy Advisor at the events to find out more.
Additional support available for Claire to use included promotional materials such as publications, guides and posters promoting the presentations at department or team meetings and additional marketing, PR and communication support.
