HM Revenues and Customs

Working together for an energy saving future

The Energy Saving Trust advice centre were able to support Barbara Hall and Sandra Manghan, Corporate Responsibility Team at HM Revenues and Customs in Washington, Tyne and Wear.

Free Home Energy Checks were provided for staff based at that site. 158 staff members completed theirs and received a personalised home energy report detailing how they can save up to £340 in their homes, and an average of 1.4 tonnes of carbon per household.

Energy Advisors were also available for staff to speak to at a `Learning at Work¿ day and a further 205 people were given energy saving advice, finding out about anything from loft insulation to installing renewable energy technologies in their homes.

The Corporate Social Responsibility team were pleased that we also offer a free prize draw for those employees completing the Home Energy Checks. The prize winner won a `freeloader¿ portable solar energy charger ¿ as well as a bag of energy saving goodies.

The team at HM Revenues and Customs can access additional support in order to promote sustainable and efficient use of energy throughout the workplace. For example, training sessions for `green teams¿. Publications, guides and posters, and support with PR and communication.
