Passive Flue Gas Heat Recovery Devices and Systems

Energy Saving Trust Recommended Criteria
Passive flue gas heat recovery devices and systems of all types must meet the following Energy Saving Trust Recommended certification requirements:
- The device must be used with or within compatible SEDBUK A rated boilers (according to SAP 2005).
- The device must be formally recognised under SAP Appendix Q for dwellings as a 'Passive Flue Gas Heat Recovery Device and Systems'
- The device must have an average home hot water energy savings of at least 17% as calculated using the SAP methodology for domestic hot water.
- The device must be formally approved by CE certification (i.e. independent third party testing) for use with or within a range of condensing boilers.
- The device must be approved under the Water Regulatory Advisory Scheme (WRAS).
- In the case of retrofit, the device must be commissioned by a Gas Safe registered installer and installed according to manufacturer’s instructions.
Certification proof
To prove that the individual product has met the Energy Saving Trust Recommended criteria we require the following documentation:
- Declaration of the compatible boilers
- Excerpt from SAP Appendix Q
- WRAS Certificate
- A copy of the manufacturer’s instructions

Average home hot water energy savings and CE certification must be demonstrated by a test report from an independent 3rd party test house accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 by a member of ILAC
