Water bills frozen for Scottish households
Scottish households have been told that they will not have to pay any more for their water use than they did last year.
Charges will stay the same for the 2012-13 period, keeping the average water bill at £324 a year.
The move will help households manage their household finances more effectively and is boosted by recent price falls to the cost of gas and electricity.
Infrastructure and Capital Investment Secretary Alex Neil said the decision to freeze charges "represents excellent news for customers at a time when households across Scotland are confronted by an increased cost of living".
He added that water charges in Scotland are amongst the lowest in the UK.
Households can also manage their energy bills by reducing water use. Swapping the bath for showers, fully loading the dishwasher and washing machine and installing water-efficient shower heads are just some of the measures that can help to save water.
